Why SelfLube’s Bronze Technology is Your Top Choice

SelfLube Bronze Technology

When it comes to industrial equipment, precision and reliability are non-negotiable. Selecting the right components, such as bushings, is crucial for the performance and longevity of your machinery.

SelfLube, the leading U.S. manufacturer of precision mold and die components, stands out in the industry for its commitment to consistently high-quality products and services.

In this blog, we'll dive into the significance of selecting the right bushing and why SelfLube should be your top choice as a supplier.

The SelfLube Advantage

SelfLube's journey began in 1990 when Engineer and Management Consultant Phil Allor acquired used CNC equipment and started producing self-lubricating wear plates. Bushings and other components soon followed.

Since then, we have grown steadily, thanks to loyal customers and employees who recognize the value of the products and services.

SelfLube's secret to success lies in providing high-quality components that meet the diverse needs of the industry.

Product Range

SelfLube offers a comprehensive product line, including both conventional and self-lubricating components in both inch and metric sizes.

With over 10,000 standard part numbers and the ability to create custom pieces, the company's flexibility ensures it can accommodate any size or special configuration a customer might require.

This adaptability is a testament to SelfLube's commitment to meeting the unique demands of its customer base.

Unmatched Quality

Quality along with customer service are the chief driver’s of our company. This isn’t just lip service. We have 13 consecutive years of zero non-conformance ISO 9001 audits that clearly demonstrate our commitment to quality.

This commitment to quality assurance is reflected in every product that we deliver.

SelfLube Bushings

SelfLube's bushings are available, either with or without self-lubricating graphite, in a broad range of industry-standard sizes.

Whether you need shoulder bushings, straight bushings, guided ejector bushings, and more - SelfLube has you covered.

Aluminum Bronze: The Superior Choice for SelfLube Components

For bushings and other components that guide movement, we use aluminum bronze. Its high resistance to galling and wear and a low coefficient of friction, when paired with a moving element made of hardened steel, make it a premier bearing material.

Aluminum bronze has a remarkable property, often referred to as formability. When there is a slight misalignment with the mating part (such as steel with an aluminum bronze bushing), the bronze will very slightly redistribute itself along the axis of movement. This reduces friction. It also reduces galling and wear, which greatly extends service life.

Bushings made of other materials (such as steel or polymers) lack this property and don’t perform as well.

Aluminum bronze, represented by copper alloys such as C954 and C959, typically comprises approximately 85% copper, 10% aluminum, and 4% iron. The mechanical characteristics of this alloy further solidify its position as the material of choice for high-performance components in industrial applications.

Customization for Your Needs

Recognizing that one size doesn't fit all, SelfLube offers the flexibility to create custom-sized bushings tailored to your specific application.

This commitment to customization ensures that your machinery operates with optimal efficiency, meeting the unique requirements of your industrial processes.
